night has blinded the sky with its wings
wind is lashing the skin and tearing the leaves
moon is hiding behind the cover of clouds
fear raises its head and tightens the grip

terrified i hear the ugly howl, it fills me with dread, i stumble on my path and fall
mesmerized i scramble to my feet, turn to the sound, unsteadily i walk towards its source

into the night, deep into darkness
into a dream, frozen with fear
into the night, teeming with horrors
into a dream, swallowing tears
into the night
into a dream

deeper i go through the darkness of this wasteland, colder the blood in my veins
closer i get to the center of this nightmare, louder the howl in my ears
reaching my goal, i approach the crumbling ruins, trembling i walk through the door
taking one look at the source of my obsession, terror is flooding my mind
piercing my soul with a gaze of utter madness, shadow moves closer to me
i close my eyes, giving up the useless struggle, leaving this body behind

my old shell lifeless and broken, i turn away, facing the sky
spread the wings of shadows and nightmares, i raise my head and let out a cry
through the sky, darkened and moonless, my formless shape glides in the night
and my voice, distorted and hollow, pierces the air with a harrowing howl

NONE a opéré un virage dans Where Life Should Be et ça se confirme davantage dans Damp Chill of Life. Le temps des métaphores est révolu : l'humidité froide, c'est celle des larmes qui coulent sur le visage à cause de la dépression. Tout pleure dans cet album : les guitares typées DSBM grésillent, les solos ("The Damp Chill of Life", "It's Painless To Let Go") sont liquides et coulent, les voix prennent à la gorge ; même le piano, étranglé par les sanglots ("Cease"), est aphone. The first time I heard this record, I feel scared and no other album make me feel that. Just, I feel like it's probably my favourite black metal album of all time. An outstanding Extreme doom death album, in the best tradition. The funerary atmosphere reminds of Evoken ('Centuries of ooze" bears striking similarities, for my delight).
